The Costa Blanca in Spain, or White Coast, runs along the
Mediterranean coast in the province of Alicante. There are
two distinct parts to it, the north has a range of mountains
running parallel to the sea, descending at times to form cliffs
and to the south vast sand beaches, stretches of palm trees
and salt deposits.
Temperatures are usually mild with an annual average of 17
degrees centigrade. The mountainous region has a higher rainfall
than the lowlands around Elche and Orihuela.
Along the coast are towns and villages such as Denia, Cabo
de San Antonio, Javea, Moraira, Calpe, Altea, Benidorm, Santa
Pola, Guardamar del Segura and Torrevieja not forgetting the
pretty island of Tabarca. Inland routes take you through the
mountains and plains of historical Elche, Orihuela and Alcoy.

While in the Costa Blanca watch out for the many local and
ancient festivals and celebrations such as the Moors and the
Christians (Moros y Cristianos) which commemorates the Reconquest
of Moorish Spain by the Catholic King & Queen and the
Mystery of Elche (Misterio de Elche), a religious celebration
of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Regional cuisine is
also well worth exploring, particularly the variations of
rice dishes.
The Costa Blanca is particularly suited to sailing and diving
with leisure ports and marinas in all the towns along the
coast. The Costa Blanca also boasts a number of fine golf
courses, many with frontline golf residential properties available.
For children there are three Safari Parks and two Water Parks.
Something for everyone!
